Cuba and a Memory Set Free
A 52’ documentary directed in 2016 by Ghislaine Graillet
The author rediscovers the traces of his family.
The first ancestor, Prudent de Casamajor left his native Béarn before the French Revolution for Saint-Domingue (Haïti).
After the slave rebel, Prudent moved to Santiago de Cuba, where he has become an influential placed person. The story ends in 1959, with the revolution of Castro.
The film is also a general survey of Cuba’s history and French settelment on the Island.
It’s a topical subject with the the opening of the country onto the world.
