Welcome to Khalmion
A 54’ documentary directed in 2014 by Shukhrat Karimov
In this village on the border between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, for over 40 years, French is taught in the local school.
The level of teaching is surprisingly good in view of the remoteness of the village.
In 2008, professor-founder of French at the school, Islomiddine Azimov, was decorated the Order of Academic Palms of the French Republic.
His former student, Daniar and Shoyir, continues his work.
Daniar is an energetic, active person, who is realistic. French is for him a way to expand its territory.
He is a farmer and traditional wrestling champion.
Shoyir is him butcher by trade, he is fully immersed in the world of the French language. He is passionate about philology, and nourished by great philosophical discussions.
But that's a long time that Shoyir no longer consider French as a communication tool.
