The Isle of Calvino
A 60' documentary directed in 2005 by Roberto Giannarelli
The Isle of Calvino is focused on the first forty years of the life of Italo Calvino, one of Italy’s most famous and loved writers of the 20th century.
The life of a young man caught in the never ending quest for a happy relationship with his aspirations, his desires, continuously moving from one city to another, from a continent to another, in search of work, affection and love.
With the same spirit, the choice of our testimonials has privileged people who could talk not about Calvino, but of him, having known him personally and shared some part of their time with him.
From Gore Vidal to Renzo Piano, from Emanuele Luzzati to Eugenio Scalfari, we have collected bits and pieces of relationships, affections, impressions and emotions that have helped us build the mosaic of a complex and fascinating personality.
